Additional Description: Price slashed! All original low-mile excellent condition 3-owner collectible California/Arizona classic. Traded from one body shop owner/car collector to another body shop owner/car collector as part of a shop purchase. Note: body shop owners know straight accident-free cars. The car was purchased new by a woman in Citrus Heights near Sacramento; she moved to AZ in 1987 where the 1st body shop owner saw it in Scottsdale three years ago while at the Giants Spring Training and bought it. We have all registration docs since new. Everything is original including the entire interior with some minor spot painting; several small areas remain that are not perfect (shown in photos). The vinyl top has been replaced. The car has drum brakes all around AC (original-type not currently working) power windows and door locks tinted glass and AM/FM stereo. The Riviera - sometimes referred to as an Executive Pony Car - was GMs successful answer to Fords Thunderbird and the Personal Luxury Buick enjoyed healthy sales each year after its 1963 launch. Much of the Rivieras success was due to swanky styling and the upscale imagery associated with the Buick brand at the time the car was undemanding comfortable and fashionable perfect for conventional status seekers. For 1969 the formula continued pretty much unchanged with minor styling tweaks compared to the 1968 models with different marker lights a slightly different grille and bolder brightwork on wheel arches and lower body moldings. The rear suspension had been modified steering was now variable ratio and an electric fuel pump was introduced. The Riviera was a little heavier but still good for 0-60 mph in 7.4 seconds and a 15.4 second quarter-mile. Top speed was 134 mph. Standard 1969 Buick Riviera equipment included a new 3-speed Turbo-Hydramatic transmission dual exhaust power steering tilt steering column anti-theft steering lock ignition on the collapsible column power brakes two-speed electric wipers with washers safety buzzers and warning lights upper and lower dash safety pads walnut paneling on the dash and full carpeting. Carpeted lower door panels were an option this car has. Other Riviera options included air conditioning power windows power front disc brakes four- and six-way power seats tinted glass cruise control wire wheel covers five-spoke chrome wheels AM/FM stereo and an automatic trunk release. The year 1969 was just about the pinnacle of muscle car performance with big engines and high speed. Emissions regulations and an insurance crackdown were just around the corner but cars like the Riviera were on top of their game still developing 360 bhp from a 430 cid V-8. Buick Riviera sales climbed 3000 to 52872; Bill Mitchell finally had the satisfaction of the Buick Riviera outselling its nemesis the Ford Thunderbird. The sales figure was the highest the model would achieve until 1984. Base price was $4701 making the 1969 Buick Riviera the most expensive car the company offered. Hagerty Valuation Tools average of #2 Excellent and #3 Good gives a $19650 value - which we believe is spot on for this car. Offered at $18900. This Riviera is stored in a garage in Groveland CA "Gateway to Yosemite". Photos were taken prior to washing or detailing. Recalls are a well-established global practice; from time to time they are announced by almost all manufacturers of not only cars, but also any other industrial products. But since a car is considered a source of increased danger, it is recalls in the automotive industry that attract the most attention and cause the greatest resonance. Check if your car is covered by a recall campaign. Sometimes manufacturers will recall their cars because of substandard parts or workmanship and repair them for free, regardless of the warranty. This is called a recall campaign. More information on 1969 Buick RIVIERA recalls can be found in this database. It may be useful to use online problems resource that shows automotive defect patterns, based on complaint data submitted by vehicle owners. The problems are organized into groups with data published by vehicle, component, and specific issue. See also an updated list of 1969 Buick RIVIERA problems before buying a used car. In most cases, the recall is initiated by the manufacturer. But it also happens that it is forced to do so. The largest and most scandalous recall campaigns were those that were initiated by complaints and lawsuits from consumers through controlling state structures.
