Recalls are a well-established global practice; from time to time they are announced by almost all manufacturers of not only cars, but also any other industrial products. But since a car is considered a source of increased danger, it is recalls in the automotive industry that attract the most attention and cause the greatest resonance. Check if your car is covered by a recall campaign. Sometimes manufacturers will recall their cars because of substandard parts or workmanship and repair them for free, regardless of the warranty. This is called a recall campaign. More information on 2003 Land Rover DISCOVERY recalls can be found in this database. It may be useful to use online problems resource that shows automotive defect patterns, based on complaint data submitted by vehicle owners. The problems are organized into groups with data published by vehicle, component, and specific issue. See also an updated list of 2003 Land Rover DISCOVERY problems before buying a used car. In most cases, the recall is initiated by the manufacturer. But it also happens that it is forced to do so. The largest and most scandalous recall campaigns were those that were initiated by complaints and lawsuits from consumers through controlling state structures.

Additional Description: 2003 Land Rover Discovery SE 4x4 - Tennessee Truck - 87k Miles - Leather Seats - Towing Package - Off-Road Ready (Please note: If you happen to be viewing this 2003 Land Rover Discovery SE on a website other than our Garage Kept Motors site, it's possible that you've only seen some of our many photographs of this vehicle due to website limitations. "2003 Land Rover Discovery Review - First Drive: 350 Changes, One Great Result"- FourWheeler Magazine, November 2002 As its name suggests, FourWheeler Magazine is the authority on its selected automotive special interest: 4-wheel drive vehicles. And as the above headline for its comprehensive review of the 2003 Land Rover Discovery SE suggests, their take on this then-new offering was extremely positive. On the improvements: "368 changes to the '03 Disco-changes that improve its aesthetics, ride, handling, power and off-highway capabilities." On its heritage: "...this is the vehicle marque that has become synonymous with worldwide off-highway adventure in some of the most remote, inhospitable terrain on the planet." On its creature comforts: "Climbing inside the Disco reveals a handsome interior that sports easy-to-read and well-laid-out switches and controls." And: "...rear seats are comfortable and visibility is good thanks to the vehicles stepped roof design and alpine roof windows...." On its powertrain: "... the all-aluminum 90-degree OHV engine generates 217 hp at 4,750 rpm and 300 lb-ft of torque at 2,600 rpm... handed off to a ZF four-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission that features sport/normal modes in High Range and manual/normal modes in Low Range. A full-time four-wheel-drive system is controlled via a two-speed transfer case." Not least of all, on the driving experience:"We may not have been on a jungle adventure, but we did get to spend a fair amount of time off highway in the '03 Discovery. We drove it on challenging dirt and rock trails, on the Land Rover Driving School course and even up the rocky, winding road to the top of the Stratton Mountain Ski Area. What we found was that the combination of respectable wheel travel, the seamless and unobtrusive Electronic Traction Control, good approach angle (31 degrees) and improved horsepower made it very capable." The 2003 Land Rover Discovery SE offered here in White Gold-over-tan leather is an attractive and well-maintained example of this "very capable" vehicle. Its accident-free Carfax report (available through a link at the GarageKeptMotors site) shows excellent maintenance over the years, and at 87,000 miles (or just over 5,000 miles per-year on average), it more than qualifies as a "low-mileage" vehicle by generally accepted industry standards. The exterior paint is without notable flaws, as are the glass, chrome, split-spoke wheels, and trim. Inside, the tan leather upholstery has been very well treated over the years. Interior vehicle design has long been a Land Rover strength, and it is in evidence here. The low-reflective black surfaces on the dashboard and console provide a pleasant contrast. All control surfaces are in excellent condition showing almost no wear and absolutely no sign of abuse. Upholstery is similarly free of wear with no significant abrasion, rips, or tears. The vehicle's engine bay is complete and orderly, and the undercarriage displays no sign of damage from off-road use. The overall condition of this Land Rover Discovery is faithfully presented in the more than 65 high-definition photographs and the short walk-around-and-startup video available at the GarageKeptMotors site. That said, we encourage in-person, up-close inspections by interested parties at our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom. We ask only that an advance appointment be made by email or phone so that we can devote our full attention to the vehicle and our visitors. FourWheeler concluded their review with: "... this latest incarnation is a credit to the Discovery name, and it will undoubtedly be the catalyst that will make the Discovery 4.6 a viable choice for those wanting a luxurious and capable SUV in the medium price range." To that we would add: "And in excellent condition to boot."
